Campus Spooky Stories That Will Definitely Scare You
Two UP Toki Scary Stories
The first story tells about about a guy who hails a UP Ikot jeep late one night. Although empty, the man did not attempt to go inside the jeep. He opted to just cling on to the rails. Baffled, the driver asked the man why he wouldn’t take a seat. The answer he gave sent shivers down the driver's spine. He told the driver that he cannot go in since the jeep is already full of passengers.
The other spine-tingling story tells about who girl who rode a UP Ikot jeep all by herself. As soon as she took her seat, she noticed that the driver kept glancing at her through the rear view mirror. And, to top it all off, the driver took a route that was different from the regular path drivers took. The girl, understandably, felt scared for dear life and dignity. She asked the driver to be dropped off immediately but the driver kept ignoring her. Eventually, the streets became familiar again and the driver dropped her off at her dorm. But before she can get off, the driver told her something that she will never forget for the rest of her life. "Miss, as soon as you get in your dorm, take off all your clothes and burn them. The reason why I changed our route kept looking at you through the rear view mirror is because you were headless.”
Sunken Garden Apparition
The UP Sunken Garden has been a favorite spot for nookies. Late one afternoon, a couple was making out in a car parked near the Sunken Garden. Meanwhile, their friends acted as lookouts for guards. Suddenly out of nowhere, a girl appeared, teasing some of them and doing provocative acts. The girl motioned the barkada to follow her and eventually they reached the couple's car. The flirtatious girl disappeared. The guy inside the car was in shambles and according to him, in the middle of their sensual activity, a strange voice kept shouting in his ears: "Anong ginagawa n'yo?
Terror at Vinzons
Vinzons Hall is one of the oldest and most storied structures in UP Diliman. Wenceslao Vinzons, to whom the edifice was named after, was assassinated during the Japanese Occupation. One of the more eerie stories about the old building tells of a student waiting for his friend to meet him. He opted to wait on the second floor since the first floor was a little bit crowded with students celebrating the coming of sem break. While reading a book, trying to while away the time, he heard a woman unnervingly gasp for breath inside the men’s comfort room. A few minutes passed by and his friend walked out of the comfort room so he asked him if he heard anything. His friend laughed at him and said he may be imagining things.
However, before they left the building, the guy decided to relieve himself in the same comfort room where purportedly the eerie gasp. While inside the loo, he felt a soft pat on his head. Instinctively, he looked up, already fearful of what he was about to see - and what he saw petrified him. There was a girl hanging from her neck, her complexion gray and her eyes almost protruding out of their sockets. What was hitting his head were the soles of her feet! without zipping his pants, he skedaddled from the comfort room never to return again.
Vinzons Hall's second floor infamous for its peculiar 'residents'. If you were a student, you may have been told about the man roaming in and around the building. He has a deformed back and he looks pale. He goes around asking for money or food. According to many, his name is Mang Romy and he has long been deceased. He has been wandering the halls of Vinzon Hall since time immemorial.
Terror at Your Feet
One of the oldest dorm in UP is the Kalayaan Residence Hall, a dorm specifically set up for freshmen, and being old as it is, it has its share of spooky stories. There was this newbie who hailed from a province from the far south and she opted to live within the campus, thus, her stay at Kalayaan Hall.
Her first two weeks sleeping in the dorm went by without any incident. However, on the third week, other students often hear her crying in the wee hours of the morning crying incessantly. On the fourth day, they asked her why she kept on crying while everyone was asleep. Her reply sent shivers down their spine. She told them that an old ugly woman was always standing at the end of her bed, staring at her. Whenever she falls asleep, the old lady pinches her legs. And the story became more forbidding when she showed her legs to them. It had more than a dozen pinch marks on them!

College of Education
As the oldest building on the campus, the College of Education is not only home to future teachers, but also inhabited by spirits.
One rainy afternoon, a female professor got stranded in front of the college building because of the heavy downpour. Out of desperation, she begged the guard to let her stay inside the building until the rain stopped. The guard brought her to a room and instructed her not to open the door until he came back.
Minutes later, she heard some footsteps. As she peeped through a hole, she saw nothing but red.
When the guard came back to pick her up, she immediately asked him what she saw. The guard said there was a ghost that walked at night, only at a specific hour. What she just saw was the ghost’s eye, said to be colored red.
College of Human Kinetics (aka gym)
The UP Pep Squad—cheerdancers and drummers alike— often train in the gym until late at night.
Once, when the gym was locked up for the night, four cheerdancers who were standing outside the building heard someone dribbling a basketball on the hardcourt.
Another story says that there were three drummers preparing to leave the gym one night when they heard three loud beats of the bass drums. They looked around, wondering where the sound came from. When they looked up at the second-floor windows, they saw a girl in white with drumsticks in hand.
Wilfrido Ma. Guerrero Theater in Palma Hall
The Wilfrido Ma. Guerrero Theater on the second floor of Palma Hall is where Marita is believed to reside. Marita was allegedly once a theater actress. In her last scene, she was lowered to the stage with the help of a harness. When it unexpectedly snapped, she was choked and tragically died.
These days, she sometimes appears in theater productions when there are a lot of cast members frolicking in one scene. Marita can easily be identified; when everybody on stage is running, she is merely walking or floating across the stage.
